The YCRG conducts high quality research, evaluation and consultancy on all matters relating to children with caring responsibilities – young carers – in order to advance knowledge and inform the development of health and social care policy and good practice.
Sheffield's Carers Strategy is a city Wide joint multi-agency strategy that has been developed by carers, carer advocacy groups, providers and community organisations, Sheffield City Council and NHS partners, defining the key actions and services that are required to improve carers’ lives.
Since April 2015, new legislation means young carers now have the right to an assessment. The young carers assessment in Sheffield is an accessible and useful tool providing a guided conversation to inform your own work with the young carer and their family, involving other services where appropriate, with the young person’s knowledge/consent. You can download the young carers assessment booklet and guidance notes here. For carers aged 18+, find out how to apply for an assessment here.
