The Sheffield Mutual Sheffield 10K

We are one of the partner charities for the Sheffield 10K on Sunday 28th September 2025… and we need you to sign up to either run or volunteer to help make the event a success!

Running in the Sheffield 10K

If you’d like to run to raise funds for SYC, we have several free running places available, or you can select us as your chosen charity when purchasing your own running place. We are asking runners who use one of our SYC places to fundraise a minimum of £150.

If you’re making an online fundraising page, JustGiving and Give As You Live Donate are two of many different online platforms available - please do inform SYC which platform your fundraising platform is being set up on. For those who prefer to raise funds offline, we can help provide a physical sponsorship form.

Sheffield Young Carer running shirts are included as part of you signing up and will be sent out to each of our runners in advance of the day of the 10K. We have running shirts in sizes small, medium and large. I will contact you soon about confirming your running shirt size.

Training for the 10K will not only be imperative to ensuring that you’re in condition to run on the day, but it will help to make your race more enjoyable. There are different 10K training guides available online, with different levels of intensity for all different abilities, so do consider following a guide/creating your own to help get you prepared. Whilst training, you can keep your sponsors updated on how it’s going on fundraising platforms like JustGiving, by linking your page to your fitness app, or sharing updates on the page directly. We’d also love to share any training updates with SYC’s supporters through our social media and newsletter; let me know if you’d be happy for us to do so.

Run For All send out race participant packs, which will be two weeks before the race day and contain everything that you’ll need on the day. They will be posted to the addresses that you have already provided when signing up to run, so please ensure that your address details are up-to-date.

Volunteering at the Sheffield 10K

If anyone aged 18 and above would like to volunteer as a race marshal, please do get in touch. Race marshals are vital part in making Run For All events safe and successful for everybody.

Volunteers will be allocated to marshal one section of the route. Run For All will provide a briefing prior to the event with the details for where to meet, on the day contact information and start and finish shift times (currently 7:00am-12:00pm, but this can change depending on the marshal’s route section). Where possible, the allocated section of the route will correspond with our charity cheer point, which serves to increase the visibility and impact of SYC across a specific part of the route.

If SYC can find enough volunteers interested in marshalling, there may be possibility to have multiple people take turns in shifts for one marshal spot. Additionally, volunteers over the age of 18 can marshal a section with someone who’s under the age of 18, as long as this won’t impact the ability to marshal to Run For All’s usual high standards.

Marshals may well be asked questions requiring local knowledge by members of the public, however, this is not essential in order to register as a volunteer.

When do we receive the information and equipment required for race day? Individual volunteer briefings will be sent by email directly to you and a representative from Sheffield Young Carers will be cc’d into the email. Volunteers will be sent information on their allocated role at least 10 days prior to the event, unless circumstances allow this information to be distributed earlier.

How do you get signed up? Volunteers should sign up via the following link. Run For All will use these details when sending briefings - they may also contact you to ensure that you have successfully received this email from them. https://vmodcui.active.com/responsive/eventGroups/2896933/jobGroups/506432/jobs

Is there a volunteer sign up deadline? The deadline for volunteers to sign up as race marshals is on Wednesday 3rd September 2025.

Please contact SYC Fundraising Officer Nick Hardwick if you have any further questions about either running or volunteering on the day, or would like more information (Nick.Hardwick@sycp.org.uk/07851 252014)
