NCS Programme for young carers - sign up now!

We’re pleased to announce an exciting National Citizens Service (NCS) programme aimed specifically at young carers aged 15-24.

Please note: This is open to any young carers aged 15-24, not just Sheffield Young Carers members

In recognition of the many barriers that young carers face, we’re excited to be working with Element Society to offer a bespoke NCS programme which has been specially adapted to make it accessible for young people who have caring responsibilities. The programme is taking place in late October and November, outside of school hours. It is open to any young carer aged 15-24 living in Sheffield and is completely FREE OF CHARGE. The programme will involve:

Phase 1:  Saturday 28th – Monday 30th October 2017 (start of half term). A three-day trip to an outdoor activity centre close to Sheffield to do team building and outdoor activities together. Young people will be able to contact their families during this time and we can get people home if there is an emergency.

Phase 2: Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th November (end of half term), 10am – 5pm each day. A programme of workshops, activities and training to build skills, have fun and help design a social action idea. This will be in the city centre and transport costs will be paid back.

Phase 3: 30 hours over three evenings (city centre) plus work done in own time

  • Wednesday 8th November, 5-8pm
  • Wednesday 15th Nov, 5-8pm
  • Wednesday 22nd November, 5-8pm
  • Social action project for Carers Rights Day on or around Friday 24th November
  • Transport costs will be paid back.

Register your interest online by Monday 16th October and wait for your full pack of information to arrive by post,.
