We did it! On Saturday 23rd September we successfully completed the Peak District Challenge to raise vital funds for young carers from all over Sheffield. Eight staff members, trustees and friends of SYC completed one of two testing physical challenges - the Back Before Dark 10k and the 25k Copper Challenge.
The stunning scenery and never-ending snacks definitely helped to power us over the finish line. But most of all it was the support we received from colleagues, family and friends, who helped us to raise an incredible £2,600 for young carers - and we're still counting!
It costs us £2,000 to provide one young carer with a year of support. Here are just a few examples of how your amazing donations will help some of Sheffield's most vulnerable children and young people:
- £10 will help a young carer to travel safely to one of our regular group activities
- £50 will help five young carers to relax and have fun on one of our swimming trips
- £65 will provide a young carer with one hour of confidential support and advice
