We know that the summer holidays can also feel long and hard at times so we have put together a list of activities taking place in Sheffield over the summer for young people and families. Lots of these are free, but some do have a cost attached. Most of these activities also need to be booked in advance.
Children’s University - a database of online and in person activities (some of these have a cost attached and need booked in advance).
Everyone Active Summer Programme - Free sports activities across Sheffield (need booked in advance.
Sheffield Healthy Holidays - a variety of activities across Sheffield that are free for young people in receipt of free school meals (need to be booked in advance).
Summer Holidays Family Fun - Sheffield Museums.
Tracks Music Holiday Clubs - For young people aged 11 to 16 (priority given to young people in receipt of free school meals, needs to be booked in advance).
Creative summer activities in Sheffield - Different age criteria, some have a cost attached, some need to be booked in advance.
National Video Game Museum - Any ticket bought from 18th July to 1st September will give you unlimited access over the summer holidays.
Pitsmoor Adventure Playground - For young people aged 6 to 13, free to use but selected opening times.
Adventure Playground in Sharrow - Drop-in Play Sessions for families and unaccompanied 10-16 year olds.
Gleadless Common Playground - Free drop-in play sessions at Gleadless Common Playground during the summer holidays. Sessions are aimed at children aged 8+ and will include crafts, games, snacks, and plenty of opportunities to play, make friends, and spend time outdoors.
Sharrow Community Forum - Youth work sessions in Sharrow.
Creative writing and drama sessions at Grimm and Co.- Based in Rotherham, these sessions are free for young people aged 13-17, but must be booked in advance. “In this highly entertaining workshop, you will explore how to tell a story of your choice using everyday objects. There are lots of creative possibilities and different approaches, even if you don’t like performing”.
