Carers Week is a national campaign which aims to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
This year (11-17 June) we’re organising a whole host of events for both the young carers and families we support and the individuals and organisations who help us to identify and support them. We’ll be encouraging schools to deliver assemblies to identify young carers who need help, raising awareness in Sheffield city centre with our partners Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield (come and see us on the HEPPSY bus in Tudor Square from 10:00 to 18:30 on Friday 15 June) – and much more.
But the highlight of our week will definitely be the exclusive party we’re throwing for young carers and their families at Jump Meadowhall on Monday 11th June. We’re determined to recognise the hard work and dedication that young carers offer their families each and every day. And thanks to generous support from Jump Inc., Porsche Sheffield, The Star and the Westfield Health Charitable Trust, it’s going to be a party to remember. There will be pizza and ice-cream, art and craft activities, beautiful sports cars to peruse, a relaxation area for parents – and hopefully even a few special guests! We’ll also be giving every young carer a special Carers Week goody bag to take home with them after the party.
If you can offer a small gift or voucher for our goody bags, or perhaps make a contribution toward our party food and drinks, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us online or telephone Katie Borland on 0114 258 4595 to ‘Jump into Carers Week’ with us today.
Or for those of you who prefer getting active, why not sign up to our jump-themed sponsored challenge, the Big Bounce? There’s something for everyone - from couch potatoes to elite athletes - with individual and team entries welcome. Find out more and request a Big Bounce sponsor form today!
