SYC's super supporters

They say charity starts at home… well for SYC, it certainly seems to! We’ve been delighted to receive support from a number of Sheffield-based companies, local groups and individuals over the past few months. Here’s a little Sheffield shout out to just a few of them, to show how much we appreciate their hard work on our behalf!

Chris Whitehouse and Linda Whitehead (pictured) opened up their beautiful garden as part of Greenhill Open Gardens earlier this month, and raised a fantastic £93.55 for us in the process! Special thanks must also go to Chris and Linda’s friends Mick and Di Jackson, who donated paintings and plants for Chris and Linda to sell at the event.

Phil Cotter and his friends completed a gruelling ultra-marathon in the searing heat last month, to support five different charities. Phil raised an incredible £929 for SYC.

Richard Sharples took on a unique personal challenge to raise an impressive £825 for SYC this year. He not only gave up drinking for six months, he also limited himself to one takeaway per month, gave up sweets and chocolate and completed the ‘Couch to 5k’ running programme - amazing!

We’re pleased to announce that Elevation Recruitment Group (based in London, West and South Yorkshire) have just selected SYC to be one of their chosen charities this year. They’ve already set up several fundraising events on Virgin Money Giving (Bassetlaw’s Sprint Triathlon, the Sheffield 10K and the Manchester Marathon) with more to come! We can’t wait to meet the team and find our how we can support their fundraising for SYC.

Philippa Atkin has been donating the proceeds of her online yoga classes to support young carers in Sheffield. She’s already raised an impressive £156 of her £250 target - and is no doubt keeping very fit too!

And last but not least, James Jenkins, alongside his colleagues at Sanctuary Housing, organised a charity football match in aid of SYC. Gas Team took on Multi-Skillers FC to win the ten-goal thriller 7-3, which raised a brilliant £879.
