We would like to congratulate project member David Martin, age 13, for winning the ‘Sheffield Young Carer of the Year’ award. Hashim Munir, another project member, also did really well getting through to the final nominations stage, with just four young people from across the city getting through.

The award was part of Sheffield’s ‘Celebration of Success’ ceremony, which took place on Thursday 7^th July, to celebrate and showcase the skills, efforts and achievements of young people from across Sheffield.

David won the ‘Young Carer of the Year’ award jointly with another young carer called Millie Steer and accepted his award in front of a large audience in the City Hall at the exciting event.

Celebrities gave messages of congratulations throughout the night and the evening was great fun, with everyone dressed up in their best clothes, a VIP event for the nominees before the show, and a ceremony of talent, performance and very well-earned recognition for exceptional young people in Sheffield.

A huge ‘well done’ to David and Hashim. SYC are really happy you are representing young carers in Sheffield and getting recognition for all the hard work you do!
