July was a wet month in more ways than one for intrepid swimmer, Chris Lawrence! An avid supporter of Sheffield Young Carers Project, Chris dived into the Thames to take part in the Great London Swim for the second year running, raising a fabulous £434 for young carers across Sheffield.
Not one to be put off by miles of water and rows of spectators, Chris completed the one-mile course in one hour and 15 minutes on 02 July, coming 3,180th out of 5,000 participants.
“The water was very choppy this year and the undercurrents made the going slow. I thought it was raining most of the time as the water was continually spraying my face.
“I drank quite a lot of Thames water with no ill effects. I really enjoy supporting the Young Carers Project. I hope to enrol for next year’s swim soon.”
