Cheque this! Irwin Mitchell raises more than £10,000 for SYC

News

Sheffield law firm Irwin Mitchell has raised a whopping £10,250 for SYC as one of two charities benefitting from its flurry of fundraising over the past year. The firm of solicitors raised the same amount again for local children's charity Amy's House, giving an impressive grand total of £20,500.

A committed team of staff from across all sectors of the Sheffield team were involved, organising a raft of events which included markets, a netball tournament, a concert involving schools and bar nights for Irwin's staff. The pinnacle event, appropriately named, was the Everest Challenge, which saw staff members Scott Flower and Andy Smith scale the equivalent height of Everest twice, climbing a specially erected wall non-stop, in Barker's Pool last September.

The law firm also generously provided in-kind support in the form of printing posters and leaflets as well as designing and printing our young people's fabulous new cookbook, '29-Minute Meals'.

"We're over the mooon about receiving this fantastic donation from Irwin Mitchell," said Liz Church, SYC's Managing Director.

"This level of support can enable us to do so much, and in this uncertain financial climate, it's just brilliant. Irwin Mitchell's charity committee is full of buzz and energy and we are so delighted to have had the chance to work with them. Thank you so much."

SYC relies increasingly on the energy and commitment of companies like Irwin Mitchell and others in the Sheffield community. If you would like to know more about choosing SYCP  as your charity of the year, or would like to fundraise for us on a one-off basis, do contact Helen Mather, Fundraising Officer on helen@sheffieldyoungcarers.org.uk
