Each year Carers UK hold Carers Rights Day to help carers know their rights and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to.
To help celebrate the day, here are just a few simple ways that you can raise awareness and build support for young carers in Sheffield:
1. Come along to our ‘Stop the Clock’ Research and Action event
An exciting free event led by young carers on Wednesday 28th Nov, 4:30-6:30. Book your places here.
2. Raise awareness in your school or workplace
If you work in a school, run an assembly or a lesson, put up a display, add young carers to a meeting agenda, or encourage your school governors to book on to our training in January. Contact us for free templates and resources.
3. Support our campaign
Sign and share the petition for free travel for young carers in Sheffield.
4. Help young carers that you work with
Give them the downloadable ‘Know Your Rights’ pack
Help them apply for a Young Carers Activity Fund grant (£300 to get a break from their caring role)
5. Keep up to date!
Sign up to our newsletter to get quarterly updates on resources and support available for young carers.
We hope we’ve given you plenty of ideas for raising awareness about young carers and promoting Carers Rights Day this year. But if you need any more help or advice, please get in touch with us today and we’ll do our best to help!
