Who we are
Sheffield Young Carers (SYC) is a Registered Charity (no 1066670) which has been running, supported by an active Management Committee since 1995.
What we do
We offer support to children and young people aged 8-21 who are living in Sheffield and caring for someone at home, usually a family member, with a physical or mental illness or disability or a substance misuse problem.
These children and young people are known as ‘young carers’ and we aim to support them by increasing their opportunities and improving their health and well-being through the offering of one to one support, group activities, respite breaks, holidays and support with education, employment and training.
We also work with our funding partners, the NHS and Sheffield City Council, and a number of other organisations, to make sure that additional support is available to young carers.
We aim to challenge the exclusion that young carers face through the services and support we offer.
If you would like to refer a young carer to our service please use our Referral Form.
