What we do to support young carers

Group support
We run a number of groups to give young people a break from caring. The groups are a place for young people to socialise and have fun, as well as to meet other young people also caring for someone. The type of activities we do include:
- Excursions (e.g. bowling, swimming, rock climbing)
- Issue-based sessions where we explore a range of issues affecting young people who are caring (e.g. bullying, confidence, relationships or managing anger or stress)
- Life-skills sessions (e.g. healthy cooking, first aid, managing finances).
Individual support
We also offer one-to-one sessions to young people in our project. These are a chance:
- For young people to have some time to talk about their individual situations and worries
- For young people to let us know what support they want from us
- For new members to get to know a member of our staff
- For young carers who are already in our groups when they need some extra support
