At Sheffield Young Carers, volunteers provide a great deal of support for our organisation and mean we can offer much more to young carers across Sheffield than we could on our own.

You might like to volunteer and be involved with:

• Group support
• Administration
• Fundraising
• Running our Management Committee.

In practice, group support volunteers might:

• Support young people and the group worker during activities
• Talk and listen to young people on a one-to-one basis within the groups
• Help make the young people’s individual experience in the group inclusive and positive.

If you want to help with administraton you could:

• Volunteer between half a day and one day per week
• Help with general office tasks to support the running of the project (answering phones, writing/mailing letters, word processing/typing, data entry, photocopying, writing minutes etc)

Volunteer fundraisers could:

• Help fundraise for the project by planning and delivering events, placing/collecting collection boxes etc

We are always on the look out for Management Committee Members:

• People with personal or professional experience in the field of caring, health, education, social care, youth work, or fundraising/finance
• To be part of a group who steer and manage the project through bi-monthly meetings.

What you can expect from us

• Training opportunities
• Informal individual support
• Group supervision
• All expenses paid by the project, including travel to and from the project

Applying to be a volunteer

We work with children and young people so we need to be sure we get the right people as volunteers. This means, before you can volunteer at our project, you will need to:

• Read through the volunteer task description and volunteer person specification
• Send in an application form
• Submit two satisfactory references
• Attend an informal interview
• Complete a CRB application form
