Here's some external sources of information which you might like to look at to find other support:
- To find out about different illnesses, read a young carers blog, find out what to do in an emergency and get loads of other support about being a young carer, click here.
- If you want to know about getting help at school or with your homework, or to find out who all the people are who work with your family, click here.
- For loads of information about your own or your family’s health issues and to get information about being a young carer and the feelings you might have, NHS Direct and the NHS Great Ormond Street website have some really useful information.
- To get information and support about your own or friends' feelings and mental health, check out the Young Minds website and another one called Epic Friends
- If you want to find about activities in your own area, click.
- If you have a parent with cancer, you can get information and support from RipRap.
- If someone at home uses drugs and alcohol, there is a project called ‘What About Me’ who run programmes to help. You can get more information by phoning Imogen Powell on 0114 275 5973.
- If you or someone at home is living with HIV/AIDS, there is a support and social group in Sheffield called YAMBO.
- If you have a brother or sister with a disability, ‘Sibling Support’ run groups you can join.
