How we support young carers

Group Support

We run a number of groups to give young people a break from their caring role. The groups are a place for young people to socialise and have fun, as well as to meet other young people who are also caring for someone. The type of activities we do include:

  • Excursions (e.g. bowling, swimming, rock climbing)
  • Issue-based sessions where we explore things affect young people who are caring (e.g. bullying, confidence, relationships or managing anger or stress)
  • Life-skills sessions (e.g. healthy cooking, first aid, managing finances).

Individual Support

We also offer one-to-one sessions to young people in our project. The one-to-one sessions are a chance:

  • For young people to have some time to talk about their individual situations and worries
  • For young people to let us know what support they want from us
  • For new members to get to know a member of our staff
  • For young carers who are already in our groups when they need some extra support.
