In February 2011, Sheffield Young Carers launched a new service to support the families of young carers, in families where there are mental health issues and/or substance misuse issues.
The service aims to reduce the amount of caring that a young carer does by supporting the person they care for with issues that affect the whole family e.g. debt, housing, benefits, accessing services. This is done through one-to-one support and home visits over a 12 week period.
