Summer holidays are here and SYC has a great programme of activities for our members, to ensure our young carers feel supported and get breaks from their caring, even when schools are closed.
We will be running:
- 2 x 3-day residentials out to the beautiful Peak District to enjoy a programme of drama-based conflict resolution training, exciting outdoor activities, as well as barbecues, games, talking and fun!
- Sheffield Young Carers 30 Minute Meals: A healthy eating cooking project, with support from SYEDA, Sheffield Hallam Univeristy and Irwin Mitchell. Young carers will have the chance to learn to make healthy, cheap, simple and safe meals for themselves and their families. As part of the project, they will also produce a SYC recipe book and TV cooking show-style film to support other young carers in Sheffield with the cooking they do at home.
- 2 x First Aid sessions, with support from the Red Cross, so young carers can feel more confident if they have to give first aid to the family members they care for
- A family fun day, with food, crafts and silly sports, for the young people who access this project and all their families
- 2 x picnics/fun days at the park
- Ice skating
- 2 x walks in the Peaks...with a swim at Hathersage outdoor swimming pool at the end!
It's gonna be a fun summer. Watch this space to hear how it all goes!
Schools out for summer!
